ANIME FIELD NOTES
Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Quick notes for reviewing a match. This page is shorter than our expanded study guides.
Madoka Magica begins with a familiar-looking invitation to extraordinary responsibility. Wishes and promises become questions about what somebody understands when making a choice. Its carefully managed discoveries are a large part of the viewing experience.
What to notice
Approach trivia through the wording of a promise or a character's stated goal before opening later revelations. The original television series and its films should be named separately when a question asks about a particular production or outcome.
Keep these straight
- A wish and the consequences of making it are different facts.
- A character's initial understanding may be incomplete.
- The original TV series is the production context for the game's Shaft question.
