ANIME FIELD NOTES
Mobile Suit Gundam
Quick notes for reviewing a match. This page is shorter than our expanded study guides.
Gundam is a large franchise with multiple settings and timelines, not one uninterrupted story containing every pilot. The original Mobile Suit Gundam places human conflict around military machines rather than making those machines the only subject. Pilots' allegiances and personal circumstances matter.
What to notice
Identify the particular series or timeline before connecting a pilot to a machine. A Gundam model name is not a personal name, and similar designs do not prove shared continuity.
Keep these straight
- A pilot, mobile suit and military faction are separate categories.
- Not every Gundam series takes place in the same continuity.
- The original Mobile Suit Gundam credit is a specific production reference.
