ANIME FIELD NOTES

Bleach

Ichigo Kurosaki can see spirits. Meeting Rukia draws him into the work of Soul Reapers, protecting people from Hollows while trying to keep up with ordinary life. His new duties soon involve organizations with their own ranks, weapons and ideas about justice.

What to notice

Keep the wielder and the weapon separate. A Zanpakuto's name, its release and the person carrying it can all appear among the choices. Soul Reapers, Hollows and Quincies also have different roles; a similar-looking uniform won't settle the question.

  3. A rematch needs its own context

  6. Try the questions

One person can have several labels

Ichigo is a person, Soul Reaper is a role, and a Zanpakuto has a name of its own. Bleach questions become much easier when you keep those labels on separate lines. A prompt can mention all three while asking about only one of them.

Start with the relationships around Ichigo and Rukia, then add the organizations. The groups have different duties and sources of power. A uniform may establish context, but a rank or weapon detail often does more to identify the person.

Learn the sword together with its wielder

A weapon's name, a release and a technique aren't interchangeable. Getsuga Tensho, for example, is an attack associated with Ichigo, not another name for Ichigo himself. Remember what the attack does as well as the name attached to it.

If you miss a technique question, compare the answer options by category first. Does each choice name a fighter, an attack or a form? That can reveal why a familiar word felt right even though it didn't answer what was asked.

A rematch needs its own context

Bleach returns to characters as their allegiances and abilities develop. Treating every meeting between two people as the same encounter erases the information a battle question needs. Attach a location, a story period and an objective to the result you remember.

An interrupted fight shouldn't automatically be read as a clean victory. Rescue and escape can also be the important outcome of a scene. Our accepted quiz answer belongs to the encounter named in the prompt; report it if the wording doesn't establish the outcome clearly enough.

Make a compact review card

Use four entries: person, organization, weapon, defining action. Fill in the entries you actually know and leave the others blank rather than guessing. The gaps tell you what to check in the linked series material or on a rewatch.

For studio questions, keep the animation company separate from the manga creator and the service where you watch the show. The original environment illustration above is a reading aid, not visual evidence of a production credit or an official Bleach image.

There are 31 related questions in the current game. The examples below may contain story spoilers. Try an answer before expanding its explanation.

Teenager who can see ghosts and becomes a substitute Soul Reaper. Bleach

ANSWER

Ichigo Kurosaki

Ichigo is the human teenager who becomes a substitute Soul Reaper. Rukia is the Soul Reaper who brings him into that responsibility. A prompt about receiving the role points to Ichigo; a prompt about transferring the powers points to Rukia.

Soul Reaper who gave Ichigo her powers. Bleach

ANSWER

Rukia Kuchiki

Rukia is the Soul Reaper who gives Ichigo her powers. The two characters belong to the same initiating event, so distinguish the person granting the power from the person receiving it.

Which studio animated Bleach? Bleach

ANSWER

Studio Pierrot

Studio Pierrot is the animation-production answer for the version named here. A studio credit identifies the animation team, not the source author or the streaming service. Check the season or year before applying that credit to another adaptation.

Ichigo's crescent-shaped wave of spiritual energy, fired from his sword. Bleach

ANSWER

Getsuga Tensho

Getsuga Tensho is the name that matches the ability described in the prompt. Link a technique to its user and defining effect; a character, a transformation and an organization can appear together without being the same kind of answer.
